Today, Partner Coffee announces the opening Bedfordmodern coffee shop located at 145 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. Bedford is a conscious return to the café experience that built the brand, where hospitality, education and contact come first.
Located just a few blocks from the original café on North 6th Street, where the company’s roastery began, Bedford builds on its 14-year presence in the local market and signals the brand’s evolution without losing what made it successful. The 50-seat café has been deliberately designed to create a warm atmosphere where guests can relax and appreciate the craftsmanship of the drink.
“As we have grown our business in coffee shops, grocery stores and direct sales, we have seen how much people want a deeper understanding of the coffee they drink,” he said Amber JacobsenCo-founder. “Bedford is an essential milestone for us. It harkens back to our company’s beginnings in Williamsburg, when we focused on creating a more comfortable, smaller format space where guests could ponderous down, relax and connect over exceptional coffee.”
Bedford is Partners’ most coffee-focused coffee shop to date. The single-origin menu is more comprehensive than anywhere else, featuring premieres, exclusive offerings curated by the Partners roastery team, and coffees such as Bitch Quto from Guji, Ethiopia, recently announced as a finalist in the Good Food Awards.
Expanded kitchen allows the team to prepare classic brunch staples in a counter service format. Culinary highlights include Enormous Coke breakfast (2 eggs bright side up, smoked bacon, avocado, crispy potatoes, roasted tomatoes, sourdough toast and unlimited refills of classic drip coffee) Butter pancakes (triple buttermilk pancakes, whipped cream, strawberries)among others.
The specialty beverage program includes espresso drinks, seasonal coffees, cool brews, matcha and chai Donaalongside homemade cocktails such as Frosty brew protein (cool infusion concentrate, banana, almond butter, cinnamon, plant-based protein powder) developed in cooperation with a local wellness brand Profitable.
While designing the space, the team discovered a photograph by local photographer Anders Goldfarb depicting Belinda’s living roomwho occupied this place in the 1980s. The photo became the central part of the project, paying tribute to the building’s past. The central point is a bar made of it single curved slab of Italian Calacatta Gold marblecombined with sultry wood, brass accents and hand-sewn leather cushions. The partners collaborated with local artist Will Van Zee on the project entrance made of golden leaves, hand painted signageand impressive mural apparent from Bedford Avenue and North 9th Street.
The coffee program is supported by industry-leading beer brewing equipment including Modbar 2.0, a dedicated pour-over station centered around a Weber Workshops EG-1 grinder chosen for its ability to highlight clarity and sweetness, two Mahlkönig E80 GBW grinders, one Mahlkönig E65 GBW grinder and an EK43.
“We are able to respond to the demand we have seen for more education and conversation about coffee,” he said Cary Wongcoffee director. “The equipment and pace of service allow us to ponderous down and really showcase the coffees and the people behind them.” Green Coffee Merchant Cary and Partners Samuel Kleinwill host quarterly tastings focusing on education, sourcing and traceability.
AND modern mobile application supports its focus on hospitality by enabling guests to order ahead, earn and redeem loyalty points, and easily purchase whole bean coffee. Streamlining transactions, the app emphasizes conversations, coffee education and time spent with baristas rather than time spent in line.
Bedford will open on Friday, February 6 and will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the corner of Bedford Avenue and North 9th Street in Williamsburg.
