A curated list of coffees by any other name would be just as sweet

Friends and family ask us where to buy coffee. This is a arduous question! It’s basic to lose track of the amount of amazing, fresh and spirited coffees. Every week we ask our advertising partners to recommend the coffees they like best. Here’s a collection of the most intriguing whole bean coffees available this week from talented roasters around the world.

Klatch Coffee
Women of Coffee

In honor of Women’s Month (March), we created Mujeres De Café (“women of coffee”) to recognize the contributions of women-led producers like Lucia Ortiz’s Finca Las Mercedes to the specialty coffee space. 20% of every bag sold at Mujeres De Café in March will be donated to Grounds For Health to support its work to end women’s cancer in coffee-producing communities. Thank you for your support!

Stumptown Coffee Roasters
Colombia Huayku

Incredibly complicated, yet very approachable, we are cheerful to welcome the recent Colombia Huayku variety to the menu. This year’s offering is pure harmony with lush notes of syrupy black cherry, affluent shadowy chocolate and buttery toffee.

Coffee with a plan
Lake Wachu in Ethiopia

We taste: blueberries, chamomile, chocolate, dried fruits – early last year we visited our friend and long-time sourcing partner Ture Waji, founder of Sookoo Coffee in Ethiopia. Operating in remote areas of Uraga district in Guja, Ture travels to many kebeles to collect coffee cherries for processing at drying stations. Sookoo processed this coffee in its main drying plant on the outskirts of Haro Wachu village.

Jairo Arcili’s Yellow Sudan Rume is thunderous, with heady aromas of grape bubblegum and fresh lemonade. Mr. Espresso
Neapolitan espresso blend

Surrounded by the sights and smells of the Neapolitan region in his youth, Carlo Di Ruocco decided to master the art of roasting and mixing the classic espresso true to this region. Today, Neapolitan Espresso combines as many as eight coffees from different origins, each roasted separately. Using conventional wood burning methods reduces acidity and increases sweetness, which is a characteristic feature of Italian espresso. The result is deep, complicated and balanced.

PERCENTAGE
Colombia Sebastian Ramirez Blackberry Co-ferment

Sebastian Ramirez is simply amazing. Not only is he a frigid guy, but he causes a storm with his coffee. The cherries are anaerobically fermented for 120 hours at 18°C, the pulp is removed, heat shocked and fermented again for 72 hours with CO2 injection and blackberries. The coffee is then dried in the shade on terraces, in stages, until it reaches a moisture content of 10.5%. The result is intensely sweet and fruity with notes of blackberry jam, blueberries and tupelo honey.
