Aldi plans to occupy a 21,000-square-foot location on the west side of the former fitness center at 827 Central Ave. The company has proposed adding a 480-square-foot space at the rear of the mall to accommodate pickup operations, according to city documents.
Planet Fitness also has proposed a 22,000-square-foot location in the shopping center occupying the eastern portion of the former GAC Fitness. Six other Planet Fitness locations are located in the Dayton area.
The Springboro Planning Commission will meet July 10 to decide whether to approve a specific development plan for both businesses in the context of the mall’s exterior renovation.
Additionally, Seven Brew Coffee has received site plan approval for a location at 827 Central Ave., also in Midway Plaza Shopping Center. The Up-to-date York coffee chain recently received approval to open locations in Beavercreek and Springfield. The site development plans were approved by the planning commission on June 12 and will go to the city council for review.
The former GAC Fitness space was briefly occupied by Fitness 1440, which signed a lease for the 42,531-square-foot space in December 2022.
