With inventive, easy-to-use updates and no electronics, the 49 PRO is an absolute powerhouse in manual espresso brewing, offering complete extraction control, all at an affordable price. The Flair 49 PRO was so named due to the addition of a 49 mm stock basket with a pretty redwood grip. 49mm diameter baskets were first introduced in the 1960s and have recently increased in popularity.
Why is the 49mm basket so special?
- The deeper basket provides greater tolerance when selecting grind thickness, reducing the impact of compact inconsistencies in the grind. You don’t have to sand that well.
- A narrower coffee disc reduces the risk of clogging.
- It is easier to tolerate smaller doses, especially around 12-14 grams.
- A deeper basket can provide more controlled extraction by increasing flow resistance and contact time, which may result in better body and mouth feel.
What else makes 49 PRO stand out?
- No need to disassemble between shots – The cylinder and piston are permanently attached and equipped with a stainless steel valve piston, which simplifies the workflow and makes back-to-back brewing much easier.
- The brewing path is made entirely of stainless steel – no plastic touches the water or coffee during the entire brewing process.
- Optimized Heat Retention – The all-stainless steel brew head is designed for faster heating and features an inventive hollow stainless steel piston to maximize heat efficiency.
- The set includes two baskets – a pressure basket for beginners (for ground coffee or for operate with any grinder) and a bottomless basket for advanced brewers.
- Full brewing control with T-handle – As a fully manual lever espresso machine, the Flair 49 PRO features an extended T-handle lever that gives you full control over your extraction from pre-brewing to 9BAR
- Integrated Pressure Gauge – Integrated pressure gauge provides instant brew feedback so home baristas can instantly manage their pressure and flow profiles
