Royal Coffee launches $250,000 campaign citing health reasons and Equator Coffees founder invites industry to join

Oakland, CA – February 26, 2026: Royal Coffeein cooperation with Basics for health and founding partner of the campaign Equatorial coffeeslaunched a dollar-for-dollar fundraising campaign to expand cervical cancer screening and treatment among women farmers in East Africa.

Royal will match donations of up to $125,000, with a total goal of $250,000 to reach more than 5,000 women with lifesaving care that, in many cases, is unavailable anywhere else nearby.

The campaign started in progress Cervical Cancer Awareness Month in January and has already raised $23,500.

The deadline is urgent. Discounts in USAID financing has disrupted the global health infrastructure that many coffee-growing communities rely on. Grounds for Health, which has been working with cooperatives and regional healthcare providers since 1996, takes on this pressure directly.

“Coffee starts with women. When the systems that protect their health are defunded, we can’t pretend it’s someone else’s problem. This industry depends on their work, leadership and resilience. By contributing every dollar, we take responsibility not only with our words, but also with our actions.” — Max Nicholas-Fulmer, CEO, Royal Coffee

Royal has supported Grounds for Health since 2006, contributing more than $1.6 million in total financial and in-kind support. This campaign encourages the entire industry to join in this commitment.

Here’s how to get involved:

A model that any stove can recreate

Equator Coffees joins as a founding partner of the campaign and donates 10% of sales proceeds from its modern Single Origin Espresso, Burundi Women of Turihamwe, to Sustainable Coffee, which will launch on March 2. Their participation shows how choosing a single origin can become a lasting and meaningful support for the women who produced it.

Any smoker can do the same. Choose your coffee, set your donation percentage, and Royal will support you turn it into impact. To get started, contact info@royalcoffee.com.
