The American leg of the Specialty Coffee Association’s World of Coffee event series will take place in San Diego in just a few weeks, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking to 2027. SCA makes it quite simple, very simple, in fact. with the announcement that World of Coffee is coming to New Orleansin Louisiana next year and will bring with it 2027 Roaster World Championships.
It almost seems too soon, as the last World Roaster Championship was held just 500 miles west in Houston less than a year ago. The two events are separated by the 2026 championship, which will take place in June in Brussels. Nevertheless, Roasters and World of Coffee are returning to the south.
As we continue to focus on the upcoming World of Coffee San Diego, not much is known about WoC Modern Orleans, including the location. We only know that it will take place on Friday, April 9vol until Sunday, April 11voland more details will be revealed after WoC San Diego.
SCA CEO Yannis Apostolopoulos states: “Bringing together the global specialty coffee industry in this way reflects the core work of the Specialty Coffee Association, acting as a catalyst for progress, connection and excellence across the entire specialty coffee value system. By co-hosting World of Coffee and the World Coffee Roasting Championships in Modern Orleans, we are creating a powerful platform to elevate craftsmanship, unlock opportunities and drive the industry forward through shared knowledge and innovation.”
This will be the second World of Coffee event to be held in the United States following a tardy 2025 name change from Expo to better align with SCA’s other global trade shows.
So plan accordingly, which is what I mean by planning to go directly to Stein’s delicatessen for a sandwich (Fernando, always Fernando) and a shot Any coffee while you wait.
