A fresh coffee trend has appeared on TikTok. Well, there’s always a coffee trend on TikTok, but now there’s a fresh one. Previous roll-on drinks include an avocado latte, watermelon juice with iced coffee, and orange juice and espresso, which have had varying degrees of success.
However, the newest drink isn’t that far-fetched. She didn’t even leave the breakfast table in search of inspiration. The latest trend is adding yogurt to your morning coffee, and the internet, and I mean me, is torn.
As reported Yahoo Lifethe trend was started by TikTok user Jordan Bernsteinwho, for obvious reasons, goes by the name Coffee Yogurt Boy. The drink was launched last November and consists of iced black coffee, a dollop of plain Greek yogurt and coconut water. The latter ingredient also featured prominently in another viral TikTok trend, Cloud Coffee. The drink gained popularity on the social media platform and evolved to include elements such as cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
In other videos – assuming you can watch them without jumping and tapping on things that fry your Millennial brain – Bernstein even adds yogurt with fruit on the bottom. Even though it seemed like it was done in the blink of an eye, I really can’t be mad at it.

The basic question is simply: but why? If you don’t mind adding yogurt to your coffee, there’s probably nothing wrong with milk, the icon of coffee toppings, and there’s no risk of it becoming lumpy if not mixed properly. According to Yahoo, the addition of Greek yogurt helps augment the overall protein content – it’s the next substantial thing in the world of TikTok coffee. Yogurt is often a protein-rich substitute for things like sour cream, which adds richness, so why not have coffee too?
Or maybe some extra flavor from the ferment. But if so, let’s really dig into it. Let’s add some kefir. Kefir, coconut water, coffee, maybe some fruit or citrus and you’ve got something.
So it’s not the weirdest coffee trend to ever appear on TikTok, but what’s weird is that I prefer to avoid it. I can’t prove it, but it seems, especially to sizzling coffee lovers, that yogurt will chilly the coffee too much, right? Yogurt is a great breakfast and morning coffee is a borderline religious experience, but combining the two that already work so well together seems strange. Do you want to know what this combination tastes like? I’ll tell you. This tastes like being 30 minutes overdue for work.
