Along with the rise of established brands, a number of startups have also emerged, making 2022 an exhilarating year for specialty coffee across the Pacific. Continuing our look at 2022, here are 10 eye-catching ribbon-cuttings we documented across California, Oregon, and Washington:

An international team of specialty coffee professionals with a mission to support regenerative agriculture have planted the flag for Futura Coffee Roastery in the Montavilla neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

Seattle-based company’s fourth retail coffee shop Anchorhead Coffee opened in the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, occupying a two-story, 4,300-square-foot space with an on-site bakery.

A modern coffee shop in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland, Oregon called Wonderwood Springs opened as a story, bringing to life high-quality coffee and engaging art under the guidance of a local artist Mike Bennett.

The inspiration came partly from the Californian landscape, as well as the subway line that has connected Culver City to downtown Los Angeles since 2012. The free-form, playful interior features long stripes of color that stretch across the bar’s façade, while horizontal tiles on the interior walls add dynamics.
