Milan Design Week begins today, attracting brands and design innovators from around the world to the Italian city. The week is already set. It begins today with a lecture titled Short-lived Dreamscapes: Immersive Realities as Prototypes for Alternate Futures. Guest panelists include Paul Kelly (La Marzocco), Samir Bantal (AMO/OMA), David Mahyari (SolidNature), Christopher Dessus (Paf atelier) and Sofia Lekka Angelopoulou (designboom). The talk will focus on how design events like Milan Design Week construct “entire worlds… only to disappear a few days later” and how they can be more like experimental theaters, “spaces where emotional, symbolic and sensory futures are shaped, tested before taking on a lasting form.”
The next day, Room for Design goes full coffee mode and Accademia del Caffe Espresso La Marzocco presents Coffee Portraits. Each day for the rest of the week, a up-to-date roaster will take over the La Marzocco coffee cart at ME Milan Il Duca and serve one of their coffees that best represents a specific aromatic family. Smokers will be present La Sosta specialty coffee, Coffee plantation, Worker, Apart fromAND Garage Coffee Bros.
But perhaps the most electrifying news to come this weekend, at least for those who won’t make it to Milan, is the announcement of a up-to-date color line for La Marzocco’s home coffee machine and grinder line. The Linea Mini and Linea Micra coffee machines and the Pico grinder will receive three up-to-date, electrifying color options. Available in a neutral cream color, deep and saturated blue and brushed steel – a nod to the original La Marzocco Linea – they give a up-to-date look to your home favorites. (Pico will not be available in brushed steel.)
