Coffee is an art. This is a fact that specialty coffee has been trying to convince the world of for the last two decades. It’s also true that art is coffee, or at least that’s the case with this admittedly wild overflow. It is inspired by the work of the French sculptor Auguste Rodin you can buy it on ebay right now.
Best known for The Thinker, Rodin is widely considered the father of newfangled sculpture, whose works often focus on the human form. I am certainly sinning in this overflow by holding on to this tradition, although it is more Walking Man than Thinker.
Handmade by a London artist Jascha Lenkiewiczthe porcelain coffee maker depicts an armless man’s torso with a conical spout for a head and legs very reminiscent of Stranger Things. And brewed coffee? It’s leaking out of him. (We started calling him “Pee60” in the Sprudge offices.) The flow rate could certainly utilize some work; has something He would describe Cotton Hill as a “narrow ureter”.” It has it a certain Zoolander vibe.
I mean, I really want that weird little pour-over device. And really, the only reason I’m writing about this, thus increasing your chances of beating this offer, is because it’s a little out of the income range. According to our reports, the current bid for the Rodin transfer on eBay is over £400 ($467), and the reserve has not yet been reached. It’s a shame because it would fit my mug perfectly.
Lenkiewicz says he plans to make more of this functional sculpture, although given how time-consuming the process is, it will be months before they are completed. As of now, this is the only existing Rodin-inspired coffee container that we at least know of.
But if I can’t have it, I’d like someone in the strange world of specialty coffee to make it. So please someone buy this thing and tell us how to do it pee there is coffee.
