Better Buzz expands to East County with a location in La Mesa

LA MESA, Calif. — East County coffee lovers will no longer have to flock to the coast for a delicious cup of Better Buzz Coffee, as the chain officially open The first restaurant in La Mesa will open on Friday.

Located at 7102 University Avenue, the recent Better Buzz location will offer both indoor and outdoor dining, as well as a drive-thru for those looking to grab a coffee on the go. It will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.


Better Buzz Coffee Roasters was founded in 2002 by then-students as an artisan coffee shop.

The La Mesa location is the company’s 21st location in Southern California since opening a brick-and-mortar café in Pacific Beach in 2007, and the chain’s expansion shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

The recent Better Buzz location in East County is one of several locations to open in the last few weeks, including: Bonita and Mission Gorge. Earlier this month, the company also debuted its first location in Orange County with a store in Saint Clement.

Additional satellite locations include: opening planned for next year in Orange County’s Laguna Hills and Phoenix, Ariz. — first out-of-state store. A Better Buzz will also be one of the retail locations opening in 2025 next to the recent Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport.

Each location offers a variety of handcrafted espressos and teas, as well as smoothies, bowls, toasts and sandwiches. Better Buzz is especially known for its specialty drinks such as Horchata Iced Latte and Moroccan Spice Iced Coffee.
