Traveling with us now to Long Beach, where Coffee finger It serves exceptional – and deeply analog – experience. Combining Hi-Fi sound equipment and handmade ceramics, Dedo is an intimate cafe offering a feast for the senses, not just taste buds. But don’t make a mistake, there is one central point. “We are in favor of concentrating coffee itself,” says co -owner Sarah Grant.
A cafe that plays vinyl, of course, is not a recent concept. But the appeal is not in recent products. When it gets good, Hi-Fi Cafe is a transcendent experience and makes DEDO a must for anyone who visits Long Beach.
For those who are not familiar, will you tell us about your company?
Coffee finger It is an intimate, local cafe listening to Hi-Fi based in the Wrigley district in Long Beach, California. Founded by Scott and Sarah, we have been thinking about this project for years and we bring complementary strengths to the general vision; Scott worked in various hotel contexts, cooperation industry and high -class audio production, and Sarah is a coffee researcher and a professor at the Local Public University. We live in the neighborhood and we love to think about non -algorithmic ways of experiencing coffee and music, but we think it is crucial to share that we are the owners of compact businesses. We had great support from our people, but it is an organic project in which Scott poured his heart and soul.
Can you tell us about a recent space?
Our space registers the experience of listening and tasting through a deeply purposeful atmosphere and attention to detail in all our projects, from non -standard seats and mills to a local record cabinet. Although we have access to a huge patio in the open air, the internal listening space is what we have created and what we can not wait to share the most. Of course, there are restrictions on the size and shape of the cafe. Despite this, we have made every effort to treat it acoustically and create an experience that is best possible for our specific space, while believing that people commuting to work may want something rapid and available. The cafe is compact, but we found that it adds characters, coziness and social experience of space. We especially like our skylight and heated tones that our designer grows. We also have full kitchen and plans for a compact brunch menu with beer and wine.
What is your coffee approach?
We keep it straightforward and consistent. We have robust curiosity and recognition for all specialist coffees, from coefficients to mix (and Sarah is almost too familiar with the world of freight coffee coffee). We will always have two coffee on ours Fetco Twin Brewer – a delicious daily drinking and something for specialist coffee enthusiasts and people who want to try something recent and different. We are in favor of coffee concentration. We also think that consistently good espresso goes a long way. To this end, we hope that the coffee we serve really shines in our straightforward, but high -quality menu.
When it comes to our service, we love to drink coffee from attractive cups and wait for all our drinks in ships that invite our clients to release and appreciate the space for a moment. We will continue to have engaging seasonal drinks, such as the salty mocca licorice, a drink inspired by a “barista choice” named after our rescue Mutt, Wilbur and super tasty tea with frozen tea and shiny lemon Limeade.
When we open, we work only with Acquiring and burning unity; They have something for everyone, but more importantly, we trust their acquisition, baking, consistency, transparency and willingness to meet people in which they are during our coffee trips.
Any machines, coffee, special equipment set up?
Our espresso belt conducts a fairly standard composition: Marzocco PB line Two -group Espresso IA machines Mahlkönig e65s Grind-by-wet on ours Pukpress Automatic manipulations. On the backbar we have Fetco Twin (2232NG) and a grinder to the EK43 store. We managed this (previously used) espresso machine renewed and painted to order to fit in our interior design.
Our Hi-Fi equipment is also an indispensable element of the general impression of the cafe. It is crucial for us that the system that we folded for the cafe, which is possible, shows the engaging sound of a stern hi-fi, not being a completely inaccessible collection of equipment. We believe that in our configuration there is a lot to love, consisting of Tannoy Legacy Eatspeakers, an integrated Luxman L-509X amplifier, Technics SL-1200G turntable and the original DAC of high-resolution ALTAIR. We used products from GIK Acoustics for room treatments and we were excited to connect to R/D record cabinets from nearby Los Angeles to build a non -standard cabinet for displaying and storing vinyl. We hope that all this is a unique opportunity for visitors to discover and enjoy how it can sound a satisfactory high -class sound.
How does your project consider sustainable development?
We are constantly thinking about sustainable development. In fact, he maintains Sarah at night as someone who studies sustainable development as a concept and has some critical prospects for sustainable development as a profit -oriented industry. We consider sustainable development in many ways. Sustainable environmental development consists in using what we already have better and working with existing partners who have similar values. This translates into cooperation with smokers, which we trust, focusing on quality over quantity possible and maintaining local things as possible. We also think about sustainable development in the field of neighborhood and long -term goals that go beyond ecological straws; We are in favor of recent, inventive forms of environmental and economic responsibility and sustainable development in the industry.
What is your hope for the opening date/month?
July 2025 – a monthly month pile of rubbish finally becomes a cafe.
Do you work with craftsmen, architects and/or creators you would like to mention?
So many. Kellie Patry (Los Angeles, California) designed our interior and imagined it in a way that we could not articulate. Our contractor, Rebuilt (Long Beach, California), took gambling in this refined commercial project and gathered it beautifully. R/d record wardrobes (Los Angeles, California) Put on a great cabinet for storage and exhibitions for us. Sasha Pace of Life of a plant shop (Long Beach, California) coped with our project and installation of the plant and cooperated with Beth Bowman with Bowman Ceramics (Long Beach, California) to make a few non -standard planters for us.
And of course Black Rabbit Service Co. He was invaluable, making sure that we have adequate water filtration and infrastructure to support our machines and work flow, and we are looking forward to their future maintenance support! We know that they are not strangers to readers, but they are literally craft, coffee architects and creations in one package.
Thank you!
Thanks Spudge!
