Coffee building: Kross Coffee Roasters in Chania, Greece

In summer, escape to Greece. Sounds pretty nice, no?

We are taking you today in the latest edition of the combud. This is not our first shipping from the island of Crete, or for the first time when we introduced ourselves Kross Coffee Roasterswho took part in a series of coffee functions in 2015. We talk to people in Kross to learn more.

For those who are not familiar, will you tell us about your company?

We are Krossproudly baked in Chania.

Our journey as coffee roasters begins in our location Tsuderon Street in Chania in Crete. Before 2010, we already had special relationships with coffee with another two specialized cafes in Chania. Over the years, we have participated in the coffee championships and now we were proud to serve as judges to compete.

Our award -winning Roastra is home to our mission to be a voice of an extraordinary work done by farmers somewhere in the world from 1400 to 2400 meters above sea level.

Can you tell us about a fresh space?

A neoclassical building from the delayed nineteenth century, which was initially built as a store on the underground floor and ground floor. The owners of the building were on the first floor. The building had a lovely yard outside. We adopted this space abandoned for several years and planned a complete review of initial glory. Updating it structurally and making all the necessary adaptations so that it is available to everyone, to move and go out.

The courtyard was restored with a fresh floor with a terrach, and the interior was completely converted. The space is spread on three levels. On the lower floor there is a studio space in which we plan to accommodate events, from private conversations to the morning yoga lesson. In our ground floor it houses our bar, which is concentrated in the middle of space and goes out to one of the largest parks in the city only 150 meters from the Venetian port. Our top floor is more a work space where you can enjoy a cup and pull out a laptop or read a book. In the fresh air there are olive trees preserved from the initial building well and a lovely floor with lasting. We founded a dedicated space for the sale of coffee and products, as well Marzocco Home full range of machines.

What is your coffee approach?

Our daily interaction with the community is inspired by the classic connections of Kafeneia (Village CoffeeHouses) in tiny towns. Kross Coffee serves as an informal meeting point for friends who gather every day to discuss both local and international issues, supporting the sense of merger and camaraderie.

We believe that we are here to influence our surrounding community and make life so more lovely.

Do you work with craftsmen, architects and/or creators you would like to mention?

The whole space was created from zero with local craftsmen. The whole joinery was made locally by Giannis Garefalakis, our metal work and our entire outer, as well as some internal furniture were made by the Ilias Tsagrakis team. Lastry floor made by one of the original craftsmen left on the island of Ioannis Papadetmetriou. The whole space was designed by our interior design team led by Marianda Michael as part of its final presentation at the Faculty of Interior Design of the University of Nicosia.
