Did someone say futuristic brewer? Yes, that’s right. Live on the show, the hosts try it out Melitta Senz Va technologically advanced pour-over brewing set that connects to the Wabilogic phone application. The brewer is equipped with sensors (two scales, a temperature sensor and a TDS) that send real-time data to the app, providing information about temperature, brewing time and TDS measurements.
TDS (total dissolved solids) data is sent to the app, giving the user an analysis that allows them to predict the overall extraction level (strength) of the brew. On the device itself, it displays a straightforward interpretation of this data with nine built-in flavor profiles (e.g. “mighty”, “sour”). Measuring coffee’s TDS with lab-grade refractometers has been part of professional specialty coffee toolkits for over a decade, and the Melitta Senz-V brings this useful technology to everyday home brewers –especially for those who experiment with brewing water.
The coffee brewer has been “available” since 2022, with availability really ramping up in 2025, and the app is connected to an lively community of users who share their data and even rate the quality of their roasted coffee, offering a useful database of highly rated coffee roasters and brewing recipes.
