Winners 13. Good Food Awards was announced last night in Portland, Oregon, where 16 coffee roasting companies were honored with awards for their high-quality, sustainably roasted coffee.
Originally held in San Francisco, the awards program has come to Portland for the first time. In recent years, the criteria for the awards have been redefined to include greater diversity in terms of coffee origins and seasonality, as well as regional variation among the winning roasters in the United States.
Alongside food items such as cool cuts, pickles, cheeses and spirits, coffee remains one of the most popular categories in the rewards program.
This year’s program saw 237 winners in 18 categories, with the Good Food Foundation reporting that “most” of the winners were compact businesses, with annual revenues of less than $1 million.
