Consider tiramisu. This is the world’s greatest coffee dessert, sorry for the affogato. Part of its greatness is its ease of execution. Dip some savoiardi (i.e. ladyfingers) in espresso, add a layer of mascarpone and sprinkle with cocoa. Then there is the taste. This is forward-looking coffee, lithe but decadent. It’s the kind of dessert you can eat endlessly without feeling full. But for that, one’s constitution would be put to the test by the recently named longest tiramisu in the world, which is over a quarter of a mile long.
As reported by the portal BBC, the record-breaking dessert was prepared in April at London’s Chelsea Town Hall by a team led by Mirko Ricci, who previously held the record for the world’s longest tiramisu until 2019, when it was beaten by an Italian team.
Collaboration with IllyCaffé, Bonomi oven ladybugs, Carnival, Galecta, Well done Italy, Complete TV, SterligardAND EurovoRicci’s team of 100 Italian chefs built a tiramisu that was a staggering 440.6 meters long. The assembled dessert, which had to be 8 cm high and 15 cm wide to break the record, consisted of 150,000 savoiardi and 20,000 eggs.
Officially recognized in the Guinness Book as the world’s longest, the tiramisu was created in Britain, not Italy, according to Ricci, “in honor of the king and the royal family,” and was finished with a gold crown on top.
Funds raised from the record-breaking dessert will be donated to the foundation Esharelife Foundationa charity focused on helping indigent people, promoting education and improving health care in disadvantaged areas.
Although this is the longest tiramisu in the world, it is unclear whether it is also The largest in the world. The current record holder weighs 3,015 kg (6,646 lb) and consists of 450 kg of savoiardi, 750 kg of coffee and 1,250 kg of mascarpone and cream. A little math napkin shows that the newest tiramisu weighs 1,125 kg of savoiardi, 99 kg of coffee and 1,843 kg of mascarpone. It is therefore probably also the world’s largest tiramisu, even if it has not been officially recognized as such by Guinness. So put a pot with The biggest coffee in the world and invite all your friends and all your friend’s friends and all their friends because it’s time for dessert.
