University of San Diego tests default oat milk program for Earth Month

Who is dairy milk? In an era of popular plant-based milk choices, restaurant guests are customizing their coffee orders with their favorite sustainable dairy alternatives. In the name of giving customers what they want, University of San Diego’s flagship coffee shop, Aromas Café, will be offering oat milk as a default addition to all of its coffee creations during the month of April. Looks like we’re back to school to celebrate Earth Month! We hope to see you there.

University of San Diego, Aroma’s Café, pilots ‘Oat Milk Default’ program

At the University of San Diego, located on California’s Pacific coast, change is beginning. Coffee FlavorsUSD’s premier coffee shop, is launching a first-of-its-kind pilot program to serve its popular oat milk as an automatic standard for all coffee orders. That means that come April, guests who order cappuccinos, lattes and other coffee shop beverages will automatically receive the creamy plant-based milk without having to ask for it. The private research university is the first school-based coffee shop in the U.S. to pilot such a sustainable and delicious initiative. Go Toreros!

USD disrupts dairy market by offering oat milk at no extra charge

The change will happen in April, increasing the number of cafes that cater to students and customers without an additional fee. The month-long program aims to disrupt the dairy scene by offering customers delicious and popular plant-based options that are more sustainable for the environment. Aromas Café joins a list of local cafes like Blue Bottle and Peet’s Coffee that have removed the surcharge for plant-based milk and/or offered a plant-based drink as a default on their menu. Southern California definitely knows how we treat our coffee!

Aromas Café showcases San Diego’s top attractions

Aromas Café is one of many vegan-friendly restaurants located on University of San Diego‘s campus. The cafe serves up San Diego staples like Peet’s Coffee and Ryan Bros Teas. The college cafe also offers a variety of gourmet baked goods and grab-and-go options, as well as fill-your-own kombucha, icy brew and iced tea. The sustainable cafe also offers discounts for customers who bring their own cups! If you’re in the San Diego area and want to show your support, stop by for some cruelty-free coffee in April.

Aromas Café is located on the ground floor of the freshman residence hall building, Maher Hall. Maher Hall can be found at 5998 Alcala Park Way, San Diego, CA 92110. The café’s hours are 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Wednesdays, and 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Fridays. Aromas Café is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
