We tried Dunkin’s Spiked Iced Coffee and Tea

Dunkin’ Spiked Iced Coffee

Inspired by the flavors of Dunkin’ coffee, these drinks use real coffee, natural flavors and a malt alcohol base, resulting in a whopping 6% ABV per can. But they don’t contain as much caffeine as a typical Dunkin’ iced coffee — only about 30 mg per serving, compared to 100 mg in a cup of coffee, according to Dunkin’ Spiked Website.

I’ll start by saying that some things are best left alone. I started my taste test with the Dunkin’ Spiked Original Iced Coffee and was disappointed by the lack of a convincing coffee flavor. While I thought the flavored versions would be better, they tasted a little weird and too artificial. The mocha tasted almost like a coffee-flavored beer, but worse. I’d stick with the classic espresso martini or a double fist of iced coffee and a booze if that’s what you really want.

Dunkin’ Spiked Iced Teas

Malt-based iced teas are brewed with real black or green tea and have a 5% ABV. According to Dunkin, you’ll also get between 15 and 30 mg of caffeine per can.

They were definitely better than the iced coffees. And while I thought the Slightly Sweet or Half & Half would taste better than the flavored options, I was wrong. The Slightly Sweet was too sweet, and the Half & Half was just okay. Although I thought the Mango Pineapple and Strawberry Dragonfruit Iced Tea Refreshers would taste too artificial, they were actually the best of the entire Dunkin’ Spiked line.

Verdict

If you’re a Dunkin’ fan, you might prefer their iced coffees. But for me, they just weren’t worth the price — maybe they’d be better poured over ice. If you like Twisted Tea, you’ll probably like Dunkin’ Spiked Iced Teas, which are perfect for a hot summer day. If you’re looking for these alcoholic beverages, you’ll only find them in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Vermont. You can use product search engine to locate them.
