HONOLULU – May 13, 2026 – Coffee from the Hala tree today announced the opening date of its café located at The Lilia Waikīkī at 2380 Kūhiō Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815 as July 1, 2026. A two-week cushioned opening period is scheduled to begin on June 17, giving guests an early preview before the official grand opening.
The opening of Waikīkī marks an invigorating recent chapter in Hala Tree Coffee’s continued growth in the Hawaiian Islands. Hala Tree Coffee has become known as a true farm-to-cup Kona coffee brand – inviting guests to experience every step of the journey, from farm to farm
where coffee is grown, enjoying handmade drinks in cafes, having freshly roasted beans delivered to your home through online and stationary sales.
Hala Tree Coffee produces and serves only 100% Kona coffee sourced directly from family farms in Captain Cook, Hawaii.
“Our vision has always been to bring people closer to the source and share the story behind every cup,” said Jean and Danielle Orlowski, founders of Hala Tree Coffee, who founded the company in 2012. “Opening in Waikīkī allows us to welcome even more guests to this location
experience – whether they are discovering our Kona coffee for the first time or already love what makes it so special.”
Designed as a welcoming retreat in the heart of Waikīkī, the recent café will offer the local community and visitors a respite from the bustling streets outside and a place where they can engage more consciously with 100% Kona coffee. Featuring a pristine, minimalist design with industrial-modern accents, the space has been designed to suit both guests starting their day in Waikīkī, local residents looking to grab a bite to eat before work, and remote workers settling in with a coffee and laptop.
Guests can expect Hala Tree’s signature coffee creations, made exclusively with 100% Kona coffee, including unique seasonal offerings from talented baristas and recent branded beverages currently in development, as well as brewed espresso, matcha and refreshing icy brews.
The Waikīkī location will also feature a full-fledged bakery operated by award-winning pastry chef Abigail Langlas, whose decades-long career includes acclaimed kitchens and pastry programs in Hawaii, France and the United Kingdom. Langlas brings extensive experience in the fine industry
cakes, artisan baking and hospitality, including previous roles at Alan Wong’s restaurant, Neiman Marcus and her longtime Honolulu bakery, Cake Works. Guests can expect a diverse selection of fresh pastries and baked goods prepared daily with locally sourced ingredients when possible, as well as on-the-go breakfasts and lunches designed to complement the taste of Hala Tree’s Kona coffee 100%.
“Our cafes offer the sporadic breed of Kona coffee – where the same company serving your cup also grows, harvests, processes and roasts the coffee,” the Orłowskis said. “This hands-on stewardship allows us to protect quality and integrity at every step. Whether guests visit us at our recent Waikīkī location or brew Hala Tree at home, they can enjoy a true connection to the history and people behind their coffee.”
Transparency remains a core value of Hala Tree Coffee – especially in the coffee industry, which has historically not always made details about sourcing, labor, processing and provenance available to consumers. Each bag of Hala Tree coffee beans has a unique QR code that allows you to
customers can track their coffee’s journey, including harvest times, processing stages and roasting information. By opening this process to customers, Hala Tree Coffee aims to build deeper trust and a more meaningful connection with each cup of its 100% Kona coffee.
Since its founding, Hala Tree Coffee has more than doubled in size, expanded its farms and planted recent coffee trees that are already producing exceptional beans. The opening of Waikīkī represents the next evolution of a brand built on hospitality and a deep respect for Hawaii’s coffee-growing heritage.
