Now available in 6kg, 10kg and 20kg capacities, the M Series represents a breakthrough in specialty coffee technology, but also an crucial case study in overcoming the challenge of land-based production in today’s economic and political climate.

The M Series is the culmination of a five-year development cycle that aimed to bridge the gap between artisan coffee roasting and newfangled automation. Each machine is designed and built in Mill City’s state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot, solar-powered facility in northeast Minneapolis.

ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION

  • The M Series introduces several industry-leading features designed to give baking machines unrivaled control and consistency:
  • Monolithic Housing and Advanced Drums: Fully insulated, monolithic sheet steel housing ensures thermal stability, while double-wall shaftless drums ensure excellent heat transfer and grain mixing.
  • Next-generation HMI with haptic control: The series debuts the RoastPATH touchscreen interface, featuring a specially programmed jog wheel with haptic feedback for intuitive, touch-sensitive precision of baking parameters.
  • Acoustic Optimized Environment: Specially designed silent exhaust fans reduce ambient noise, improving the baking environment without sacrificing cooling power.
  • Future-proof technology: All M Series roasters feature remote firmware upgradeability and a comprehensive remote diagnostics suite, enabling proactive maintenance and seamless addition of modern features.

INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION IN THE USA

The launch of the M Series marks a strategic move by Mill City to completely move its core manufacturing ecosystem on-site. After investing in massive equipment, specialized tooling and assembling a production team specializing in craftsmanship, the company now produces over 400 unique components for each roaster at its headquarters in Minneapolis.

“If your coffee is a labor of love, your roastery should reflect an equivalent commitment to excellence,” he says
Steve Green, general manager of Mill City Roasters. “The M Series is the most sophisticated and capable roasting system we can build. It is the embodiment of our dual expertise in specialty coffee and precision production.”

Mill City’s vertical integration uses advanced technologies, including 6,000-watt fiber lasers for sub-millimeter precision, 2,000-watt laser welding systems and precision CNC machining to ensure each unit meets strict quality standards.
