Spill the Beans Opens Up-to-date Store in Mission Valley, Ocean Beach

SAN DIEGO — A San Diego secret has been out for a while now, as novel locations of the eclectic coffee shop Spill the Beans have been popping up all over town.

The beloved coffee and bagel spot will be adding even more San Diego locations in 2024, expanding its reach inland and toward the coast.

Spill the Beans started the novel year with grand opening of third location in Mission Valley. Located minutes from Mission Valley Shopping Center, the store offers expansive indoor and patio dining options, along with signature freshly prepared food and beverages.

The store, located at Camino de la Reina 525, will be open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Later this year, Spill the Beans will expand its novel Mission Valley location, opening a fourth location at 4827 Newport Ave. in Ocean Beach. Additional details about the novel store were not disclosed.

The original Spill the Beans location in the Gaslamp Quarter opened Verant Group in 2017, quickly becoming a go-to spot for coffee and morning meals in the area. In 2020, the cafe expanded to include a counter service location in Seaport Village.

Using only beans from Dim Horse Coffee Roasters, the cafe offers everything from classic drop coffee and chilly brew to espresso options, as well as teas and kombucha. But its specialty is freshly baked California-style bagels spread with signature cream cheeses, personalized breakfast sandwiches and savory protein bowls.
