Nowadays, a good coffee machine will perform more or less the same as a car. What if you want your coffee machine to look like a car? And not just any car, but a really speedy one. For this purpose, there is the latest collaboration between La Marzoco AND Porsche. The Italian manufacturer of coffee machines and the German manufacturer of sports cars have joined forces in a circumscribed series Porsche-inspired Linea Micra express machines.
It’s like the poet Carl Brutananadilewski once said, “It’s like my swimming pool is throwing its butts around the yard and yet it’s still standing still.” The same can be said about the Micra in your kitchen. The Collab coffee machine is available in two different versions. Slate Gray Neo is available, paying homage to the original Porsche color. There’s also a Martini Racing design, inspired by the 911 Carrera RSR, which “pays tribute to the long-standing collaboration between Porsche and Martini Racing.”
While the former offers a more restrained look and muscular yet matte tones, the latter design really opens it up. Porsche red around the drip tray and ’70s-inspired blue and red racing stripes wrap around the front and sides of the body. Other Porsche-inspired details include a steam wand and scorching water handles reminiscent of a sports car’s drive mode selector, while the Micra’s pressure gauges look like a Porsche speedometer.
Only 911 coffee machines will be produced, another nod to Porsche and their 911 series.
“Like Porsche, we combine established craftsmanship with creative technology and distinctive design,” says La Marzocco Marketing Director, Chris Salierno. “This special edition of Linea Micra is addressed to espresso lovers and all those who pursue their dreams of an exclusive lifestyle.”
The Porsche x La Marzocco collaboration coffee machine debuted earlier this week in London at Soho Farmhouse, as well as at a pop-up cafe in Los Angeles. He also appeared a few days later at the Shanghai Coffee Festival.
Both versions of the Micra can be purchased in Porsche showrooms and at the company headquarters Internet shop. They retail for $6,555 for the Slate Gray Neo and $6,949 for the Martini Racing. And if you’re going to roll that kind of coin, you might as well buy the matching Slate Gray Neo Pico Grinder for $1,840.
Italian muscle and German engineering. Italian engineering and German strength. No matter how you slice it, it’s a sexy looking machine.
