Australian Jack Simpson wins the 2025 World Barista Championship

Jack Simpson z Axil coffee roasters in Melbourne, Australia is 2025 Barista World Champion. Competitors from over 50 countries performed at HostMilan in Italy over the weekend in hopes of winning the top prize, but when it was announced earlier that morning, it was Simpson with a dream finish.

The three-time Australian Barista Champion steadily rose through the ranks; Simpson finished third in the WBC in 2023, then finished second to Mikael Jasin in 2024 before finally winning this year. That level of excellence would usually make one the favorite to win, except that four of his five finalists were also multiple national champions, including Ben Put, a seven-time Canadian Barista champion and currently a five-time WBC finalist. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Jason Loo is a four-time champion, China’s Simon SunLei is a three-time champion, and Japan’s Hiroki Ito has three Japanese Latte Art Championships under his belt. Only Christopher Sahyoun Hoff from Denmark visited the world stage for the first time.

Still, even among many regulars, Simpson scored almost 20 points more than the runner-up in the finals.

This is Australia’s fourth victory in the World Barista Championship and second in four years, following Anthony Douglas’ victory – also with Axil – in 2022.

Congratulations to Jack Simpson and all the Finalists! Without further ado, here are the results of the 2025 World Barista Championships in Milan, Italy.

CHAMPION: Jack Simpson, Australia

Runner-up: Simon SunLei, China

Third place: Ben Put, Canada

4th place: Jason Loo, Malaysia
5th place: Hiroki Ito, Japan
6th place: Christopher Sahyoun Hoff, Denmark

Congratulations once again and see you next year in Panama!
