Titanium and versatility – this is the recent Tinto brewery

Everyone loves a versatile brewer. This is one of the reasons why Origami Dripper has taken the transfer world by storm (and that’s great). The thinking goes like this: the more versatility you have with your brewer, the more control you have over performance. And that theory is put to the test with a recent one Tinto (stylized Tintō) overflow system. The titanium dripper takes a recent approach to controlling flow rate and that’s it live now on Kickstarter.

Made of 99.9% aircraft-grade titanium, the super-light brewing device has a shape similar to the aforementioned origami. Where Tinto stands out is the replaceable filter discs on the bottom of the brewer. Available in 0.2mm, 0.5mm and 0.8mm hole diameters – smaller for lighter coffee and larger for more advanced roasts – the discs assist control the flow rate of water through the coffee bed. The modular design allows you to easily switch between them.

Tinto can also be used without a filter, allowing more oils to pass through and creating a more tough bowl that resembles a French press.

According to the Kickstarter, the Tinto is also useful for things like filtered juice, which I think would come in handy for my watermelon iced coffee and espresso sunrises. They also claim that because it’s titanium, it’s hypoallergenic and packable for outdoor adventures (I think at this point we should have a moratorium on calling coffee makers portable just because they’re diminutive).

With six weeks left in the campaign, Tinto has already earned more than five times its $3,000 goal. Still, there are plenty of prizes up for grabs, including an Early Bird deal that includes the dripper and discs for $69, which is $30 off the retail price. If you want it all, you can purchase the premium brewing kit, which includes a dripper, discs, serving tray, stirrer, and cup (all titanium) for $199, a 39% discount off the MSRP of $196. Rewards are expected to ship in April 2026.
