There is one thing in these times that people from both sides of the passage can agree: coffee. This is a great unit. No wonder that if there is one thing that politicians break the event line, it’s coffee. This is what happens in Congress, with a two -party bill on release of coffee from tariffs.
As he initially reports Washington PostIt is expected that members of the Chamber of Representatives of the US Ro Khanna (D-Ca) and Don Bacon (R-NE) will introduce recipes that would tardy down of coffee from all tariffs applied after January 19th this year. This includes, in particular, a 50% tariff for all Brazilian imports, which led to a rise in coffee prices by 50% from their introduction in August.
In accordance with the draft provisions obtained by The Washington Post, the release would apply to “baked coffee and cracking, as well as shells of coffee, leather and other drinks or coffee substitutes.” Although it is not clearly mentioned in the WAPO report, it is assumed that green coffee is also included in the release, because without it the bill would ultimately be toothless.
Bacon stated in the Twitter post: “Coffee prices have increased by 21%. There is no point in applying tariffs on something that our country does not even develop. Everything we do is raise the cost of coffee for American consumers.” Meanwhile, Khanna compared the tariffs to the colonial tax of tea: “We fought the revolution for tea tax. Time for us to have an economic uprising in relation to coffee tax!”
This has not been made public when Bacon and Khanna, none of which are members of the coffee kauck, will introduce regulations. The act would require a uncomplicated majority at home, which means that more Republican majority would have to break the ranks. Then he will have to go through the Senate before reaching the president’s desk to sign. And who knows if it would happen at all.
Nevertheless, there are two politicians who at least try to do something to aid the American people. Which does not seem to be noteworthy, but it is so. It just shows the power of coffee. I bet that if you put a coffee pot in the middle of a passage, we could really force two sides to meet and develop some things.
